(AP) -- Chicago's lengthy losing streak against the Detroit Tigers is over.

On Saturday, White Sox right-hander Gavin Floyd would like to snap his string of winless starts.

Floyd goes for his first victory since August and looks to pitch the White Sox to their fourth straight win.

After dropping 13 of 18 to the Tigers in 2011, including the last six meetings, Chicago (4-2) opened this series with a 5-2 victory Friday in its home opener.

Jake Peavy threw 6 2-3 innings of two-run ball, and left fielder Dayan Viciedo hit a solo homer and made a potential game-saving catch in the seventh to help the White Sox win for just the fourth time in their last 15 at home against Detroit (5-2).

"Two huge plays ... that's the ball game right there," said White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko, who had an RBI single and is batting .435.

Chicago, which last won four straight during a five-game run Aug. 26-30, continues its seven-game homestand with Floyd (0-1, 6.35 ERA) making his second start.

He allowed five hits – three homers – and five runs in 5 2-3 innings of Sunday's 5-0 loss at Texas.

"You just kind of move on from it and try to learn from it," Floyd told the White Sox's official website.

He has lost his last four starts and is 0-4 with a 4.71 ERA in his past six – including two against Detroit - since winning at Seattle on Aug. 28.

Floyd is 6-2 with a 3.68 ERA in 17 starts against Detroit.

The defending AL Central champion Tigers will try to bounce back with Adam Wilk making his first major league start. The left-hander, who went 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA in five relief appearances in 2011, is in the rotation after Doug Fister was placed on the disabled list Sunday with a left rib muscle strain.

"It helps that this isn't my first game and it isn't my first couple days up here in the majors," Wilk told the Tigers' official website of his first career appearance against the White Sox. "Last time, I was here for a couple days and I got my first outing in on my third day, so now I'm coming up with some experience under my belt. I'm not so nervous like I was last year."

Wilk may want to be careful pitching to Konerko and catcher A.J. Pierzynski, who has two homers and seven RBIs in the last three games after driving in a run Friday with a triple.

Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera, the 2011 AL batting champ, will try to break out of an 0-for-9 slump after going hitless in three at-bats Friday. Cabrera's first at-bat was delayed 10 minutes after the batter's box had to be repainted following his complaint to umpires that it was lined up improperly.

"I don't want to talk about that. We lost," said Cabrera, 10 for 36 with a homer and five doubles off Floyd.

Brandon Inge (sore left groin) could make his season debut Saturday with the Tigers expected to remove him from the disabled list. The veteran hit .379 (11 for 29) in 10 games against Chicago in 2011.
