The deal is worth $4.5 million, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, and keeps Sproles with the team through the 2017 season. Sproles skipped all three weeks of voluntary organized team activity practices in May but reported for the team's mandatory minicamp in June.
Analysis: Since arriving in Philadelphia in 2014 via a trade with the Saints, Sproles was named to consecutive Pro Bowls as a return specialist, returning 77 punts for 952 yards with four touchdowns in the past two seasons. Sproles has 646 rushing yards, 775 receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns during his two seasons in Philadelphia.

Analysis: Sproles, who will turn 33 later this month, opted to train in California the last month where he could spend time with his family. Sproles was the league's top pass-catching running back when he was with New Orleans from 2011 through 2013, catching 232 passes in that three-year span. He wasn't nearly as prolific the last two seasons in Chip Kelly's offense, catching just 40 passes in 2014 and 55 last year.
