Analysis: Agent Jerome Stanley told CSN Bay Area on Monday night he believed coach Dennis Allen hopes Pryor struggles as starter on Sunday to justify the decision to play Matt McGloin the past five weeks - even after Pryor recovered from a sprained knee. Pryor apologized on Twitter and in a conversation with Allen for the comments shortly after they came out.

Analysis: Pryor was in a baseball cap and no pads Wednesday while undrafted rookie free agent Matt McGloin led the first-team offense at the start of practice. Analysis: Pryor revealed after the 24-20 loss on Sunday that he played despite a sprained medial collateral ligament that he first injured last week and that got worse during the week. Allen said Pryor never told him the knee was an issue but added it was clear from watching that his quarterback lacked explosiveness and wasn't 100 percent. Allen also said he never thought of replacing Pryor with backup Matt McGloin.
